Julie Ann Davey came to the Duarte Library Oct 20, 2009 and gave a presentation of her recently published book Coincidence or Something Else? This is an interesting read. It will surprise you to see that Julie Ann Davey, of Australia, is the co-author. Our Julie Davey is known around Duarte for her book Writing for Wellness published in 2007. She has been a resident of Duarte for over 30 yrs. and retired professor in journalism at Fullerton College.
During the presentation and book signing Julie was surrounded by friends from her Writing for Wellness classes given at the City of Hope since 2001, friends from her 30 years of participation in the aquatic exercise class at the Monrovia YMCA, Duarte Mesa neighborhoods and Friends of the Duarte Library. Many in the audience read their stories as they appear in her new book. Although Julie and husband Bob have recently moved to Laguna Niguel they say they’ll keep in touch with their many friends in Duarte.
Friends of the Duarte Library will soon
be receiving the first shipment of new books recommended by library manager
Reed Strege and ordered at Amazon.com. Library staff will enter the new
books into the LA County system and a Friends of the Duarte Library name
plate will be affixed inside each donated book. $700 has been appropriated
by the FDL for the acquisition of a variety of new books for a range of ages
as well as specific language groups. Do you know where to find the New Books
