DUARTE, CA, September 24, 2008 – Congresswomen/sisters Linda and Loretta Sánchez have joined the list of authors to speak and sign their books at the 6th annual Duarte Festival of Authors on Saturday, Oct. 4 at Westminster Gardens, 1420 Santo Domingo Ave. in Duarte. Their newly released book -- part memoir, part motivational guide for young women everywhere is “Dream in Color: How the Sánchez Sisters are making History in Congress” as the first sisters or women of any relation to serve in the history of Congress. They will speak at 3 p.m.
The Duarte Festival of Authors, presented by The Friends of the Duarte Library, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
Other major authors to be featured are 2007 Pulitzer Citation recipient
Ray Bradbury, (“Martian Chronicles,” “Fahrenheit 451”), who will speak at 1 p.m., Stephen J.
Cannell,New York Times bestselling author (“At First Sight”) and creator/writer of more than 40 hit TV series including The Rockford Files, speaking at 2 p.m. Bestselling author
Denise Hamilton (“The Last Embrace”) will speak at 12 noon, and
D. J. MacHale (“Pendragon: Journal of an Adventure Through Time and Space”) whose young adult following of readers is legion for his bestselling fantasy series of nine novels, will speak at 11 a.m.
